Senior Teen Week MTYC 2008

July 27 - August 2

Senior Teen Week 2008 was the best week of camp I have ever been to. Located on Sauratown Mountain in Pinnacle, NC, Mountain Top Youth Camp is a beautiful place to spend a week learning about Christ. I rock climbed, went on an awesome new zip line, lost all five tug-of-war rounds with my team, saw shooting stars, went canoeing on the Dan River, and much more.

There were two highlights of the week, however. The first would be the speaker, Nathan Bramsen. He spoke about the Kingdom of God, and God being King of our lives. It was so challenging and Nathan connected with everybody. When you listen to Nathan, he explains things where you just get it. His passion for Christ will forever be an example to me. I wish everyone could have heard him. Listening to Nathan and talking to other counselors about the things of God brought a great joy to my week.

The other highlight would have to be Friday. The banquet, where everyone dresses up and has dinner in the lodge that has been decorated according to the week's theme, was not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about senior privilege (rising seniors and above). We went down to the pool on Friday night, and I got launched on an inner tube. That was awesome. I also tried the flyswatter and regretted it, but I still had fun. After the pool, we had a campfire and had smores and a time of singing and sharing. We stayed out till about 1:30 a.m. It was beautiful. It was so clear that you could see so many stars! I got my prayers answered and was able to see several shooting stars (I've wanted to see one for a while).

There were several other adventures, but I'll tell you if you see me and ask me. I have to stop before I go on and on and write 2000 words or something.

Other pictures from MTYC, but not our week.
You have to climb on two different wires (high off the ground) between trees before you can get to the platform where you get hooked up to the zipline--and go several hundred feet. 8-D
Two different sunset pictures. You can watch the sun disappear behind the mountains in the distance.
I may post a few more pictures if I can get a hold of some.
